MR AHMED RAJI BUILT AND DONATED A THEATRE TO OUR HOSPITAL, AND COMMISSIONED BY CARDINAL ONAIYEKAN

Great things indeed happen when God mixes with men,

so it was today as His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan blessed and commissioned a newly built theatre facility donated by Mr Ahmed Raji SAN, a leading Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a pronounced muslim, who indeed found it an honour to contribute a quota in the service to God and the humanity on Tuesday, 18th October, 2022 at Our Lady Catholic Hospital, Iseyin. His Eminence, prior the blessing of the theatre, made it known that true religion is nothing but kindness, friendship, peace and solidarity and giving back to humanity which Barrister Raji has always been fulfilling. Giving he said, should not be done anyhow but by giving everything that one has to the Lord and through our services to humanity by portraying good and positive behaviour. The donor, Mr Ahmed Raji SAN who had been involved in more than 100 cases at trial and Appellate courts in his address mentioned that his contribution can be said to be a service to humanity and which he would always love to do more. Moreover, he could not but mention the fact that even as a Muslim that he is, he would always reckon with the Catholic church as the only authentic Christian faith who does not discriminate nor condemn others. Thus, "The only Christian faith I know is Catholic...you are the authentic, it is always a thing of pride to be in your midst." he said. He acknowledged the effort of the Catholic church in the interfaith dialogue especially in Oyo diocese through His Lordship, Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo the Chief Shepherd whom he was always inspired by his way of life. To his Eminence, he said, even though he had always watched him from different angles, he did not for once pose to be a merchant in the field of religion therefore, if he really could alternate religion, he would surely choose Catholicism, he added assertively. For this purpose, he said he had really deemed it fit to give back to humanity with the erection of the theatre facility named after his mother, Ayisat Aweni Raji of blessed memory. Other Eminent guests of the day could not hide their delight in their various speeches as they commended the philanthropic act of the donor towards facilitating advanced health care services of the whole community of Iseyin and across board. Rev Sr. Theresa SSL, the Matron of the hospital was so glad that she witnessed the epoch event coming into reality and a milestone in the history of the hospital and within Oyo and its axis. Chief Sr. Emmanuel Oke a Knight of the Catholic Church and one of the Management board of the hospital described Barrister Raji as a man of Philanthropic act and whom through the acts, he had reflect recognized the roles the Catholic church in the service to humanity. Just immediately after the various worthwhile addresses, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan proceeded to bless the theatre and commissioned it to the glory of God and service of the humility. Present also at the occasion were the Royal Heads, Sabi of Iganna, Baajigan of Ilaji Ile, Eleyipo of Ipapo, Alhaji Muftau Kunmi Mustapha, the PDP Chairman of Oyo State, Dr Yemi Raji a consultant and medical specialist with the UCH and also a brother to the donor, Priests and Religious within Oyo diocese, Students of St. Cecilia Music School. In an interview with Mr Ahmed Raji at his residence, he made it known that the Hospital has really served the community of Iseyin for over 5 decades and which he could definitely referred to as the last hope of the people in the environment because no any other hospital in the area has lived up to its standards in terms of service and facilities. He likewise encouraged the youths to be patient in whatever they do, not minding the polluted society but have their heads held high with hardwork and patience for by that, lines would definitely fall into place for them.
